In early 2021, Sims Advertising designed and built a beautiful modern website for the team at GTA GSM who recently expanded into the e-commerce space. GTA GSM offers a variety of global cargo handling services for high-value goods, such as pharmaceuticals and cannabis. The goal was to help position GTA GSM as an industry leader in logistics, e-commerce, and supply chain worldwide, with a website that showcases their business in a visually appealing and SEO-friendly manner.
Locking in Web Design
The website was designed with important elements of web design in mind, including quality content, usability, aesthetics, and interaction. Working closely with both the GTA GSM Marketing and Office Manager, and executive team, Sims discussed different website samples that had various designs, navigations, and visuals, which helped us understand the client’s preferences.
Sims then worked with our team of UX designers to create a Design System for the site, which offered key colour palettes, fonts, and stylings. These were presented to the team at GTA GSM, and a winner was selected. Using all this initial knowledge, Sims got to work – and the results speak for themselves!
Building the Website
Sims’ support didn’t just stop at the design and development of the site. With the GTA GSM team busy supporting their clients, Sims provided copywriting services to help spearhead the site’s development process. This allowed the client to focus on their company, and spend time sparingly to provide feedback, edits or adjustments.
One of the requirements was to include an interactive Teams Page. After some careful consideration for the needs of the client and available plugins, we settled on a simple style that allows the website visitor to filter the team members based on their department within the company. This plugin is easy to use, so that the team at GTA GSM is able to keep their staff up-to-date with little effort.
Another ask from the client was to have a freight calculator readily available on the website. GTA GSM receives a lot of inquiries about the volume weight of shipments, which is necessary to calculate shipping and cargo support. Sims was able to create a freight calculator that works for both metric and imperial measurements.
Incorporating E-commerce
Last but not least, GTA GSM wanted an e-commerce component on their website for their unique product offering of ‘hempsac’ and ‘pacsac’ bags, which seal in odor from any contained items. These products provide lock in fragrances and offer a solution to meet transit requirements and ship strong-smelling items without issue. These bags also double as bear-safe trash bags to collect waste or store food when camping.
Providing Ongoing Support
Throughout 2021, GTA GSM experienced unexpected transit delays due to fires, weather and COVID-19 restrictions. In order to help further support the client, we were able to add a temporary pop-up on the website, ensure live-chat functionality, and add a banner on the website to notify visitors of their hours or potential delays in shipments.
For these and so many other reasons, we’re not only proud of this website, but we’re incredibly honoured to have worked with such an amazing team at GTA GSM!
